Stuck in development hell, developer Eutechnyx continued to develop it until its re-announcement five years later in 2013 dropping the open-world format in favor of a linear action game with combat and vehicle sections. Ride to Hell was originally announced in 2008 and was conceived as an open world game. It was released for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. According to DX who was tampering around with the game's files, the reason why Jake survives getting shot multiple times after Mikey is killed is because he was experimented on in Vietnam.Ride to Hell Retribution is an action adventure game developed by Eutechnyx and published by Deep Silver.The game was originally meant to be a Wide-Open Sandbox, rather than a linear driving/shooting game.Stillborn Franchise: Post-uncancellation, Ride to Hell: Retribution was meant to be one of a trio of games note the other two games would've been Route 666, a game focused on road combat that would've been released on PSN and Xbox Live Arcade, and Beatdown, a mobile game, which were canceled/abandoned after the flood of negative reviews for Retribution.Real Song Theme Tune: 'Pressure & Time' by Rival Sons plays on the title screen and in the first few minutes of gameplay.Not Screened for Critics: To review the game, editors for Game Informer and Destructoid had to buy retail copies.Mid-Development Genre Shift: It was first developed as a Wide-Open Sandbox, but was changed to a linear mission-based game for unknown reasons.Keep Circulating the Tapes: The game was sold on PC only through Steam, and was removed from it in October 2014.However, the planned release date came and went without a word and the game seemed to have been quietly canceled.until it was given a rating of R18+ by the Australian Classification Board in 2013. Development Hell: The game was initially announced in 2008, and was scheduled for release in 2009.And its publisher, Deep Silver, doesn't list the game on its own website either.

Bury Your Art: The game's developer, Eutechnyx, pulled the game's listing from its own website mere months after it came out, it was also pulled from Steam a year after it's release.
